Peng Shi received the BSc degree in Mathematics from Harbin Institute of Technology, China in 1982; the ME degree in Systems Engineering from Harbin Engineering University, China in 1985; the PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Newcastle, Australia in 1994; the PhD degree in Mathematics from the University of South Australia in 1998.
Dr Shi is now a Professor at the University of Adelaide. Australia. He was a professor at Victoria University, Australia; the University of Glamorgan, UK; and a senior scientist in the Defence Science and Technology Organisation, Australia. His research interests include system and control theory, computational intelligence, and operational research. He has published 800+ journal articles, and 250+ conference papers, received 48000+ citations with h-index 116 from Google Scholar. He has been recognised by ISI Thomson Reuters as a Highly Cited Researcher in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018. He received the Andrew Sage Best Transactions Paper Award from IEEE Systems, Man and Cybernetics Society in 2016, and was the Runner-up for the 2017 SCOPUS Researcher of the Year Awards in Research and Innovation.
Dr Shi has delivered a number of plenary speeches at international conferences, symposiums and workshops. He has given over 100 invited talks in universities and organisations. In addition, he has been an adjunct/visiting professor in a number of overseas universities. He has been a general chair, workshop chair and IPC member for numerous international conferences and workshops. His work has been supported by Australian Research Council, Engineering and Physical Science Research Council, UK, Royal Society UK, China National Science Foundation.
Dr Shi is a Member-at-Large of Board of Governors, IEEE SMC Society, a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, the Institution of Engineering and Technology and the Institute of Engineering, Australia. He was an IEEE Distinguished Lecturer, and was the Chair of Control Aerospace and Electronic Systems Chapter, IEEE South Australia Section, and a Member of Australian Research Council, College of Expert.
Dr Shi has actively served in the editorial board of a number of leading international journals as Editor-in-Chief, Editor and an associate editor, including Automatica, IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control; IEEE Transactions on Fuzzy Systems; IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics; IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems; IEEE Access; IEEE Control Systems Letters; Information Sciences, Signal Processing, etc.
